The One That …

Level 5Sounds Like yikhana … tālai

তালৈ … means “the small town in which … to which …”.

How It Works

The counting word in যিখন, যিটো and যিজন matches the noun that the clause describes.

Starts withForMatching word
যিখনa book, a film, a townসেইখন, তালৈ
যিটোa thing, a matterসেইটো
যিজনa personসেইজন

The first example reads: The clause যিখন মই বজাৰত কিনিছিলোঁ describes গামোচা, and সেইখন points at it.

A place can be the target, as in the long sentence “when I go back to the small town where I grew up …”. Here যিখন … চহৰত describes the town, and তালৈ “there” points to it again.

Examples (5)

The teacher we were talking about is not in Guwahati.

যিজন opens the clause about a person, and সেইজন points back to him.
