আছে for There Is and Having
There Is and Having
ঘৰত কোন আছে? means “who is in the house?”, and মোৰ নিজা ঘৰ আছে means “I have my own house”.
How It Works
One word does three jobs.
| Job | Example | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| who or what is there | ঘৰত কোন আছে? | Who is in the house? |
| where someone is | মা পাকঘৰত আছে। | Mother is in the kitchen. |
| what someone has | মোৰ নিজা ঘৰ আছে। | I have my own house. |
For “has”, the owner takes the word for “my”, “your”, “his” or “her”: মোৰ, তোমাৰ, তাৰ, তাইৰ. The thing owned comes before আছে.
The form আছে stays the same for one thing or many things. The opposite is নাই. The word also answers a question: আছে। means “yes, there is”.
