Level 1Sounds Like ēka / du'i / tini

The numbers from one to ten are এক, দুই, তিনি, চাৰি, পাঁচ, ছয়, সাত, আঠ, ন and দহ.

How It Works

The ten counting words are এক “one”, দুই “two”, তিনি “three”, চাৰি “four”, পাঁচ “five”, ছয় “six”, সাত “seven”, আঠ “eight”, ন “nine” and দহ “ten”.

NumberThings (-টা)People (-জন)
এক ১এটাএজন
দুই ২দুটাদুজন
তিনি ৩তিনিটাতিনিজন
চাৰি ৪চাৰিটাচাৰিজন
পাঁচ ৫পাঁচটাপাঁচজন
ছয় ৬ছয়টাছয়জন
সাত ৭সাতটাসাতজন
আঠ ৮আঠটাআঠজন
ন ৯নটানজন
দহ ১০দহটাদহজন

The counted noun follows the number: দুটা কলম “two pens”. Money usually takes no classifier, so “ten rupees” is দহ টকা. The Assamese digits ০ ১ ২ ৩ ৪ ৫ ৬ ৭ ৮ ৯ stand for the same numbers.
