Both words are one word each, and neither changes its ending.

How It Works

Put असल्यामुळे right after the situation, as a separate word. Both forms mean the same, and असल्याने is a little shorter. पाऊस पडत असल्यामुळे वाहतूक विस्कळीत झाली. (Traffic was disrupted because it was raining.)

The words do not change for gender or number. Put -त before असल्यामुळे for something going on, -ले, -ली, -ला or -ल्या for something complete, matching the thing (धरण भरले, नदी भरली) and -णार for something coming: पाऊस पडणार असल्याने. A noun can come before it without a verb: सुट्टी असल्याने कार्यालय बंद राहील. (Because it is a holiday, the office will stay closed.)

For a missing reason, use नसल्यामुळे: माहिती उपलब्ध नसल्यामुळे निर्णय पुढे ढकलण्यात आला. (Because the information was not available, the decision was postponed.)

Do not add म्हणून after the clause. असल्यामुळे already gives the reason.

A report can give a count as the reason: विद्यार्थ्यांची संख्या कमी असल्याने वर्ग रद्द करण्यात आला.

    सुरू असल्याने gives the reason.

  3. सुट्टी असल्याने कार्यालय बंद राहील.

    Because it is a holiday, the office will stay closed.

    A noun and असल्याने are enough for the reason.

  4. धरण भरले असल्यामुळे पाणी सोडण्यात आले.

    Because the dam has filled, water was released.

    भरले असल्यामुळे gives a reason that is already complete.

  5. विद्यार्थ्यांची संख्या कमी असल्याने वर्ग रद्द करण्यात आला.

    Because the number of students is low, the class was cancelled.

    कमी असल्याने gives the reason.

Common Mistakes

  • Adding म्हणून after the reason.

    पाऊस पडत असल्यामुळे म्हणून वाहतूक विस्कळीत झाली.
    पाऊस पडत असल्यामुळे वाहतूक विस्कळीत झाली.

    असल्यामुळे already gives the reason, so म्हणून is not needed.

  • Splitting the word in two.

    पाऊस पडत असल्या मुळे वाहतूक विस्कळीत झाली.
    पाऊस पडत असल्यामुळे वाहतूक विस्कळीत झाली.

    असल्यामुळे is one word.
