NounWith -वरMeaning
टेबलटेबलावरon the table
बस स्टॉपबस स्टॉपवरat the bus stop
खुर्चीखुर्चीवरon the chair
झाडझाडावरon the tree

A native masculine or neuter noun that ends in a consonant takes -ा before -वर: झाड becomes झाडावर and घर becomes घरावर. Feminine nouns in -ई keep the vowel: खुर्चीवर. Many newer loanwords, like बस स्टॉप, गॅस and फोन, take -वर directly: फोनवर. Others, like टेबल, follow the native pattern: टेबलावर.

Use -त for in and -वर for on: घरात (in the house), घरावर (on the house).

-वर also says on a phone call or on a screen: फोनवर बोलतो, टीव्हीवर पाहतो. Keep the ending joined to the word.
