-ल्यामुळे
Because an Event Happened
The doer comes before the verb as in any sentence: तिने मदत केल्यामुळे काम लवकर झाले.
How It Works
Use the pattern when the cause is something that happened, not a thing. The part before -ल्यामुळे is a normal verb phrase, so it can have its own doer and its own words: तिने मदत केल्यामुळे.
| Verb | With -ल्यामुळे |
|---|---|
| उठणे | उठल्यामुळे |
| पडणे | पडल्यामुळे |
| येणे | आल्यामुळे |
| करणे | केल्यामुळे |
| घेणे | घेतल्यामुळे |
The verb part carries no tense or gender of its own. The tense of the whole sentence is in the result clause: पाऊस पडल्यामुळे आम्ही घरी थांबलो.
The two clauses may have different subjects: तू आठवण करून दिल्यामुळे मी पत्र पाठवले. (I sent the letter because you reminded me.) The first clause says why, and the second clause says what followed.
The word is written as one word. A noun as the cause uses -मुळे: पावसामुळे. A state as the cause uses असल्यामुळे.
The cause can be a longer phrase: दिवसभर काम केल्यामुळे मला थकवा आला. (Because I worked all day, I felt tired.)
