Before a noun, change ၍ to သော or သည့်: ရာသီဥတုနှင့်ပတ်သက်သော သတင်း (news about the weather).

How It Works

နှင့်ပတ်သက်၍ means "about", "regarding" or "on the subject of". It follows the topic, and the verb comes after it.

The phrase has three parts. နှင့် is "with", ပတ်သက် is a verb meaning "to be connected", and ၍ is the written word that links one verb to the next. So ဤကိစ္စနှင့်ပတ်သက်၍ is connected with this matter, and English says about this matter.

Use it for the topic of a question, a meeting, a statement or a talk. Official notices use it all the time: a ministry issues a statement about a matter, and a notice tells people where to ask about a trip.

For a simple "about" in speech, Burmese often says အကြောင်း: ဒီအကြောင်း ပြောပြပါ (tell me about this). The written phrase is more formal and belongs with ဤ, ထို and သည်. In front of the written phrase, write ဤကိစ္စ, never ဒီကိစ္စ.

    A notice: the topic of the questions comes first.

  3. ရာသီဥတုပြောင်းလဲမှုနှင့်ပတ်သက်သော ဆွေးနွေးပွဲကို နေပြည်တော်တွင် ကျင်းပသည်။

    A discussion about climate change was held in Nay Pyi Taw.

    နှင့်ပတ်သက်သော describes the noun ဆွေးနွေးပွဲ.

  4. ခရီးသွားလုပ်ငန်းနှင့်ပတ်သက်သည့် သတင်းများကို နေ့စဉ် ဖော်ပြပါမည်။

    We will publish news about tourism every day.

    နှင့်ပတ်သက်သည့် comes before the noun သတင်းများ.

  5. စာမေးပွဲအချိန်ဇယားနှင့်ပတ်သက်၍ ကျောင်းသားများ မေးမြန်းကြသည်။

    The students asked about the exam timetable.

    The topic, the exam timetable, comes before the phrase.

Common Mistakes

  • Putting spoken ဒီ in front of the written phrase.

    ဒီကိစ္စနှင့်ပတ်သက်၍ မေးမြန်းကြသည်။
    ဤကိစ္စနှင့်ပတ်သက်၍ မေးမြန်းကြသည်။

    Written sentences say ဤ for "this".

  • Keeping ၍ before a noun.
