How It Works
Writing joins two actions with ၍, in the place where speech says ပြီး. The first action ends in ၍, and the second follows.

၍ is a single letter, said ywe. The first verb has no ending of its own. The tense of the whole sentence comes from the last verb: သွား၍ တွေ့ခဲ့သည် (went and met).
၍ also gives a reason, as the last row shows. The rest of the sentence makes clear which meaning fits.
A long sentence can chain several actions, each ending in ၍, and only the last verb carries the ending.
Writing uses ပြီး too, in the same place, and ပြီးနောက် for a clear "after". ၍ also sits inside fixed phrases: မှစ၍ (starting from), နှင့်ပတ်သက်၍ (about).
၍ belongs to writing. In speech, use ပြီး, or လို့ for a reason.

Writing also joins actions with ပြီး.
- ခရီးသွားများ လှေစီး၍ အင်းလေးကန်ကို လှည့်လည်ကြည့်ရှုကြသည်။
Tourists take boats and tour Inle Lake.
The first verb, လှေစီး, ends in ၍.
- နက်ဖြန်မှစ၍ ဘတ်စ်ကားခ တိုးမည်။
Bus fares will go up starting tomorrow.
၍ sits inside the fixed phrase မှစ၍.

မန္တလေးသို့ သွားသည်၍ ဆရာနှင့် တွေ့သည်။မန္တလေးသို့ သွား၍ ဆရာနှင့် တွေ့သည်။၍ follows the bare verb.
Using ၍ in a spoken sentence.
ထမင်းစား၍ အိပ်မယ်။ထမင်းစားပြီး အိပ်မယ်။A sentence ending in မယ် uses ပြီး.
