चाहल कि

Wanting Someone Else to Act

Level 4Sounds Like cāhala ki

चाहल कि plus the -े or -ईं form says what you want someone else to do.

How It Works

When you want to do something yourself, use -े चाहल: हम जाए चाहत बानी. When you want someone else to act, use कि and a new clause. The verb in that clause is in the subjunctive.

Who actsVerb after कि
हमबनीं, करीं
तूआवऽ, करऽ
ऊ (plain)जाए, करे
ऊ (respected)करस, आवस

The subjunctive is the same one used for hopes and "should I" questions. It does not show past or future by itself. The first verb tells the time.

Do not use the future after कि: माई चाहत बाड़ी कि हम बनब is wrong.
