Postpositions After Nouns
Words like में, पर, से and के come after the noun, not before it.
How It Works
A postposition is a small word that comes after the noun. Almost none go in front, as English in does; बिना is the common exception: बिना चीनी के.
| Word | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
| में | in | झोला में |
| पर | on, at | छत पर |
| से | from, with | पटना से |
| के | of, to | नेहा के घर |
| खातिर | for | तोहरा खातिर |
Pronouns change before a postposition: हम becomes हमरा and तू becomes तोहरा. So say हमरा से बात करऽ (talk to me), not हम से.
A few places take a short ending instead: घरे (at home), बजारे (to the market).
