हम / हमनी

I and We

Level 1Sounds Like hama ā hamanī

हम means I, and हमनी means we, with जा after its verb.

How It Works

हम is I. It takes the same verb endings as रउआ.

हमनी is we. Take the हम verb form and add जा after it.

WhoVerbExample
हम (I)बानी, करब, चलींहम घरे बानी।
हमनी (we)बानी जा, करब जा, चलीं जाहमनी ठीक बानी जा।

चलीं जा can also be a suggestion: let's go.

You may hear हमनी के as a longer way to say we. As a possessive, हमनी के means our: हमनी के घर (our house).

हम never means we in Bhojpuri, unlike Hindi हम, which means we.
