Perfective Verb + جا رہا ہے
A Passive Action in Progress
Use the first participle for the passive, then mark progress on جانا.
How It Works
The sequence has two different jobs: the perfective participle supplies the passive shape, while جا رہا supplies ongoing aspect.
Change the copula for a past scene: چھاپی جا رہی تھی. The printing was underway at that time; the sentence does not itself say it was completed.
In the illustrated unmarked-subject pattern, masculine plural items take forms such as بنائے جا رہے ہیں. Keep all parts of the verb phrase consistent with the same subject.
Examples (4)
- نئی کتاب چھاپی جا رہی ہے۔
The new book is being printed.
The subject is feminine singular.
- پل کی مرمت کی جا رہی ہے۔
The bridge is being repaired.
Feminine مرمت controls کی and رہی in this noun-plus-verb predicate.
- بچوں کے لیے کھلونے بنائے جا رہے ہیں۔
Toys are being made for the children.
Masculine plural کھلونے controls the passive phrase.
- جب ہم پہنچے، سامان اتارا جا رہا تھا۔
When we arrived, the luggage was being unloaded.
The past copula locates the ongoing event at the arrival time.
