-تا / -تی / -تے + ہونا
Present Habits and General Actions
Choose the ending from the subject, then add ہوں, ہو, ہے or ہیں as needed.
How It Works
ندا صبح چائے پیتی ہے says Nida drinks tea in the morning. پیتی agrees with a feminine subject.
علی روز پڑھتا ہے says Ali reads every day. پڑھتا is masculine singular habitual.
ہم شام کو چلتے ہیں says we walk in the evening. چلتے is the masculine plural form for ہم; an all-female group can use چلتی ہیں.
میں اکثر گھر میں رہتی ہوں uses the feminine form for a speaker who says she usually stays at home.
A woman addressed respectfully uses a feminine participle with ہیں, as in مریم، آپ یہاں رہتی ہیں؟. Feminine plural subjects also keep -تی before ہیں.
