Match رہا, رہی or رہے to the subject, then choose the present form of “to be.”

How It Works

ندا خط لکھ رہی ہے means Nida is writing a letter now. رہی agrees with feminine Nida.

علی کھانا کھا رہا ہے means Ali is eating. رہا is masculine singular.

ہم اردو سیکھ رہے ہیں means we are learning Urdu. رہے is masculine plural here; an all-female group can use رہی ہیں.

آپ کیا پڑھ رہے ہیں؟ asks a male listener respectfully what he is reading. A female listener uses آپ کیا پڑھ رہی ہیں؟.
