စရာ
Something to Do
V-စရာ မလိုဘူး means there is no need to do it: စိတ်ပူစရာ မလိုဘူး။ (There's no need to worry.)
How It Works
စရာ after a verb makes a noun: the thing you can do, or have to do, with that action.
| Verb | With စရာ | English |
|---|---|---|
| စား (eat) | စားစရာ | something to eat |
| ဖတ် (read) | ဖတ်စရာ | something to read |
| လုပ် (do) | လုပ်စရာ | a job to do |
| ဝယ် (buy) | ဝယ်စရာ | something to buy |
| ပြော (say) | ပြောစရာ | something to say |
Put the new noun with ရှိ (there is), လို (need) or များ (be many): လုပ်စရာ များတယ် (I have a lot to do). It takes a number and classifier like any noun: ပြောစရာ တစ်ခု (one thing to tell you).
V-စရာ မလိုဘူး means there is no need to do it: စိတ်ပူစရာ မလိုဘူး။ (There's no need to worry.) Keep both parts of the negative, မ and ဘူး.
After a feeling verb, စရာကောင်းတယ် describes what causes the feeling: ကြောက်စရာကောင်းတယ် (it's scary). It means the same as ဖို့ကောင်းတယ်.
