Most of these feeling words also take စရာကောင်းတယ်, with the same meaning: ကြောက်စရာကောင်းတယ်။
How It Works
A feeling verb plus ဖို့ကောင်းတယ် describes what causes the feeling. The film, the story or the place comes first, as the subject.
| Feeling verb | With ဖို့ကောင်းတယ် | English |
|---|---|---|
| ကြောက် (be afraid) | ကြောက်ဖို့ကောင်းတယ် | it's scary |
| ရယ် (laugh) | ရယ်ဖို့ကောင်းတယ် | it's funny |
| စိတ်ဝင်စား (be interested) | စိတ်ဝင်စားဖို့ကောင်းတယ် | it's interesting |
| သနား (feel sorry) | သနားဖို့ကောင်းတယ် | it's pitiful |
| အံ့ဩ (be amazed) | အံ့ဩဖို့ကောင်းတယ် | it's amazing |
The person who has the feeling stays out of the sentence. To say that you are scared, use the feeling verb alone: ကျွန်မ ကြောက်တယ်။ (I'm scared.) With ဖို့ကောင်းတယ်, ကျွန်မ ကြောက်ဖို့ကောင်းတယ် means "I am scary."
For the negative, put မ before ကောင်း: ရယ်ဖို့မကောင်းဘူး (it isn't funny). The same feeling words take စရာကောင်းတယ် with the same meaning: ကြောက်စရာကောင်းတယ်။
For pleasant actions such as eating or listening, use လို့ကောင်းတယ်.
