Showing or Telling Someone

ပြ on its own means "show".

How It Works

ပြ is the verb "show". After another verb, it means you do that action so someone else can see it or understand it.

ပြောပြ and ရှင်းပြ are so common that learners meet them as single words. Use them whenever you want someone to tell or explain something: ဒီစကားလုံး အဓိပ္ပာယ် ရှင်းပြပါ။

ပြ often joins with ပေး for a favour: ပြောပြပေးပါ။ (Please tell me.) The order is always main verb, then ပြ, then ပေး, then the ending.

The person you show or tell can take ကို: ကျွန်မကို ပြောပြပါ။ (Tell me.)

    ရှင်းပြ means "explain to someone".

  2. တစ်ခါလောက် လုပ်ပြပါ။

    လုပ်ပြ means "do it so I can see".

  3. ပုဂံခရီးအကြောင်း ပြောပြမယ်။

    I'll tell you about the Bagan trip.

    ပြောပြ means "tell someone about it".

  4. ဒီစကားလုံးကို ရေးပြပါ။

    Please write this word out for me.

    ရေးပြ means "write it so someone can see it".

  5. ကလေးက သီချင်း ဆိုပြတယ်။

    The child sang a song for us.

    ဆိုပြ means "sing for someone to hear".
