The -ला form of a verb can take a postposition like से, में or के.

How It Works

-ला makes a verb into a noun that can take a postposition. This form is common in writing and in careful speech.

It follows the same -ला as in -ला के बाद, so irregular verbs use their past shape: गइला, खइला, कइला, अइला. Followed by से, it gives the means: टहलला से सेहत ठीक रहेला.

Everyday speech often says the same thing with a -े form and another word, or with a full clause. You will meet -ला in written Bhojpuri.
