নকৰাকৈ
Without Doing Something
দেৰি নকৰাকৈ আহক means “come without delay”.
How It Works
The ending -কৈ turns the negative -া form into a word for how the main action is done.
| Verb | -া form | Without doing |
|---|---|---|
| কৰ “do” | কৰা | নকৰাকৈ |
| লক্ষ্য কৰ “notice” | লক্ষ্য কৰা | লক্ষ্য নকৰাকৈ |
| ক “say” | কোৱা | নোকোৱাকৈ |
Put any object or time word before the verb: দেৰি নকৰাকৈ “without delay”, ভাত নোখোৱাকৈ “without eating rice”. The tense comes from the main verb. The phrase itself does not change for person: the doer can be মই, তুমি or তেওঁ.
A small -ই can follow to add stress, as in নোকোৱাকৈয়ে in the third example. The negative prefix is the same one that begins নকৰোঁ and নাখাওঁ.
