Telling the Time
তাই সাত বজাত উঠে “she gets up at seven”.
How It Works
The word বজা names the hour on the clock, and a number always comes before it. The question uses the verb বাজ- “to strike”, so it changes to বাজিছে.
| Say | Pattern | Example |
|---|---|---|
| an hour | number + বজা | সাত বজা seven o'clock |
| at an hour | number + বজাত | ৯ বজাত at nine |
| ask the time | কিমান বাজিছে? | What time is it? |
| ask when | কিমান বজাত? | At what time? |
From this level the hour can be written with digits, as in ৯ বজাত. Small counts of things are still written as words.

How It Connects
Learn This First
The hour is a number followed by বজা and takes -ত, so learners need the numbers and -ত first.
