সোমবাৰ / শুকুৰবাৰ
Days of the Week
সোমবাৰ is Monday and শুকুৰবাৰ is Friday. Add -ে for “on that day”: দেওবাৰে “on Sunday”.
How It Works
All seven days end in বাৰ, which means “day”.
| Day | Assamese | “On that day” |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | সোমবাৰ | সোমবাৰে |
| Tuesday | মঙলবাৰ | মঙলবাৰে |
| Wednesday | বুধবাৰ | বুধবাৰে |
| Thursday | বৃহস্পতিবাৰ | বৃহস্পতিবাৰে |
| Friday | শুকুৰবাৰ | শুকুৰবাৰে |
| Saturday | শনিবাৰ | শনিবাৰে |
| Sunday | দেওবাৰ | দেওবাৰে |
Examples: আজি শুকুৰবাৰ “today is Friday” and মই শনিবাৰে ঘৰত থাকোঁ “I stay at home on Saturdays”.
Another word for Sunday, ৰবিবাৰ, is also used, and Tuesday is also spelled মঙ্গলবাৰ.
The ending -ে joins the day name directly, with no space. It also fits things that happen every week on that day: আমি দেওবাৰে খেলোঁ “we play on Sundays”.
