কিমান
How Much
কিমান is “how much”: এইটোৰ দাম কিমান? “how much does this cost?”.
How It Works
কিমান works like a blank that the answer fills in.
| You want to know | Say | Example |
|---|---|---|
| a price | thing-ৰ দাম কিমান? | গাজৰৰ দাম কিমান? “how much are the carrots?” |
| an amount | কিমান + noun | কিমান চেনি দিয়ে? “how much sugar does he put in?” |
The answer takes the same place as কিমান: দহ টকা “ten rupees”.
The word কিমান does not change for the person you are talking to. The verb does: আপুনি … দিয়ে and তুমি … দিয়া.
To ask how many, use a counting word: কেইটা for most things, কেইখন for things counted with -খন, such as chairs and books, and কেইজন for people. কিমান দিন means “how many days” or “how long”, and it is a common phrase.
