Whenever and Wherever
जब भी means whenever, and जहाँ भी means wherever.
How It Works
जब (when) and जहाँ (where) start clauses about time and place. Adding भी makes them open: every time, any place.
The verb depends on whether the events are real or open:
| Situation | Example |
|---|---|
| A real habit | |
| An open future case | |
| A wish or blessing | |
The main clause usually needs no तब or वहाँ, but you can add one for emphasis: जहाँ भी जाओ, वहाँ ख़ुश रहो.
Use the relative words जब and जहाँ, not the question words कब and कहाँ. Keep these apart from कभी भी (any time) and कहीं भी (anywhere), which are not followed by a clause of their own: मुझे कभी भी फ़ोन करो (Call me any time).

चाहिए हो is the open form of चाहिए.
Common Mistakes
Using a question word instead of the relative word.
Whenever starts a clause, so it needs the relative word जब, not the question word कब.
