भी
Also and Too
भी means also or too and goes right after the word it adds.
How It Works
भी means also, too or as well. It goes straight after the word it adds to. Unlike English also, it cannot start the sentence.
Moving भी changes what is being added:
| नीलम भी चाय पीती है। | Neelam drinks tea too (like the others). |
| नीलम चाय भी पीती है। | Neelam drinks tea too (as well as other drinks). |
With pronouns, भी follows the form you would use anyway: मैं भी, मुझे भी, आप भी, उसके पास भी.
In a negative sentence, English says either, but Hindi still uses भी: मैं भी नहीं जाऊँगा (I won't go either).
भी never changes form. In some sentences it means even, and a later entry covers that.

भी after चाय adds tea to what Neelam drinks.

Are you from Delhi too?
भी after आप: you, as well as me.
