-ga koʻra
According to
-ga koʻra means according to. Put the source in the -ga case, then koʻra: Ob-havo maʼlumotiga koʻra, ertaga yomgʻir yogʻadi (According to the weather report, it will rain tomorrow).
How It Works
For according to, koʻra is a postposition that needs the -ga case on the word before it. The phrase says according to or based on:
- Qoidaga koʻra (according to the rule)
- Rejaga koʻra (according to the plan)
- Maʼlumotlarga koʻra (according to the data)
Reported words. To say according to him or according to what she said, add -ga koʻra to a verb noun with a possessive ending: uning aytishiga koʻra (according to what he said). A shorter form with -(i)shicha means the same thing: uning aytishicha. News writers use it often, as in xabar berishicha.
In proportion to. Koʻra can also mean in line with: Har kim kuchiga koʻra ishlaydi (Everyone works as hard as their strength allows).
Accordingly. Shunga koʻra means accordingly or for that reason and links two sentences.
Not -dan. -ga koʻra (according to) and -dan koʻra (rather than) share the same word but mean very different things. The case ending decides the meaning.
For your own opinion, Uzbek speakers usually say menimcha (in my opinion) rather than a phrase with koʻra.
