It matches “is probably doing”: आजोबा आता बागेत फिरत असतील.
How It Works
This pattern is the guessing partner of the present progressive. करत आहे states what is happening. करत असेल says you think it is happening.

The -त form is made from the verb stem: कर + त, खेळ + त, वाच + त. It stays the same for every gender and number. Only असेल changes, which is why it is the easiest of the “guess” patterns.
Put a time word first when it helps: आता, अजून, यावेळी. आता ती काम करत असेल means “She's probably working now.”
Do not mix the pattern with the habit form: करत असतो says “keeps doing”, while करत असेल guesses at one moment.
A negative guess uses नसेल: ती आता काम करत नसेल. (She's probably not working now.)
The same pattern can look ahead: उद्या यावेळी मी ऑफिसमध्ये काम करत असेन. (This time tomorrow I will be working at the office.)

Common Mistakes
Using the -ते form with असेल.
ती आता काम करते असेल.ती आता काम करत असेल.The guess uses the -त form, which does not change for gender.
A singular असेल for a plural subject.
मुले अंगणात खेळत असेल.मुले अंगणात खेळत असतील.असेल becomes असतील for several people.
