नक्की / बहुतेक / कदाचित
Surely, Probably and Perhaps
The three words go from most sure to least sure, and none of them changes form.
How It Works
Pick the word that matches how sure you are.
| Word | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
| नक्की | surely | मी नक्की येईन. |
| बहुतेक | probably | बहुतेक आज पाऊस पडेल. |
| कदाचित | perhaps, maybe | कदाचित तो उशिरा येईल. |
The verb is usually in the future, because it is a guess or a promise. For how things are now, the verb is in the present: आजी बहुतेक घरीच आहेत. (Grandma is probably at home.)
नक्की also appears in questions, where it means really or exactly: ही गाडी नक्की पुण्याला जाते का? (Does this bus really go to Pune?)
बहुतेक before a plural noun means most: बहुतेक मुले (most children). The sentence tells you which meaning is used.
Add -च to नक्की for more force: नक्कीच! (Of course!) A short नक्की answers a request: जरा मदत कराल का? नक्की. (Will you help me for a moment? Sure.)
