All the More

Level 5Sounds Like mit umetʼes

მით უმეტეს means all the more or especially; with რომ it adds the strongest reason.

How It Works

მით უმეტეს (mit umet'es) adds weight to what you just said. It works in two ways:

UseExample
with რომ: all the more sinceდაგეხმარები, მით უმეტეს, რომ ხვალ თავისუფალი ვარ.
with a phrase: especiallyეს ძნელია ყველასთვის, მით უმეტეს ბავშვებისთვის.

The phrase usually comes after the main statement, with a comma before it. The clause after რომ states a fact, so its verb keeps an ordinary tense.

After a negative statement it means let alone: ამას მეგობარს არ ვეტყოდი, მით უმეტეს უცხოს (I wouldn't tell this to a friend, let alone a stranger).

As a reply on its own, მით უმეტეს! means all the more reason!
