Describing Words Come First
An adjective comes before its noun and does not take the plural ending.
How It Works
| Adjective | Singular | Plural |
|---|---|---|
| დიდი (big) | დიდი სახლი | დიდი სახლები |
| ახალი (new) | ახალი წიგნი | ახალი წიგნები |
| ლამაზი (beautiful) | ლამაზი ქალაქი | ლამაზი ქალაქები |
| პატარა (small) | პატარა ძაღლი | პატარა ძაღლები |
The adjective keeps one form whatever noun follows: there is no gender, and the plural shows only on the noun.
In other cases the adjective does change a little. When the noun is in the dative, as before -ში, an adjective ending in -ი drops it: დიდ სახლში (in a big house). You will learn this at Level 2.
To say what something is like, put the adjective after the noun and add არის: ქალაქი ლამაზი არის (the city is beautiful).
