უფრო
More
Put უფრო before an adjective or an adverb to say more: უფრო დიდი means bigger.
How It Works
English has two ways to compare: bigger and more beautiful. Georgian has one. Put უფრო (upro) before the word:
| Word | With უფრო |
|---|---|
| დიდი (big) | უფრო დიდი (bigger) |
| ლამაზი (beautiful) | უფრო ლამაზი (more beautiful) |
| ადრე (early) | უფრო ადრე (earlier) |
| ნელა (slowly) | უფრო ნელა (more slowly) |
To say what you compare with, put -ზე on that noun: ნინო ლუკაზე უფრო მაღალი არის (Nino is taller than Luka).
უფრო can also go with a feeling verb: ჩაი უფრო მომწონს (I like tea more).
A few common words have their own form for better and worse, which you will learn later. For more of a thing, such as more time, use მეტი instead: მეტი დრო.
