რადგან
Because
რადგან (radgan) means because.
How It Works
რადგან (radgan) starts a clause that gives the reason for something. The reason can come second or first:
- სახლში ვარ, რადგან ავად ვარ (I'm at home because I'm sick)
- რადგან ავად ვარ, სახლში ვარ (because I'm sick, I'm at home)
Put a comma between the two clauses.
Each clause keeps its own tense: ტაქსით წავედით, რადგან გვიან იყო (we went by taxi because it was late).
There are three common ways to say because:
| Word | When to use it |
|---|---|
| რადგან | everyday speech and writing |
| იმიტომ, რომ | answers to რატომ (why) and speech |
| ვინაიდან | formal and official writing |
