მ-/გ-/გვ- (Me, You, Us)
Me, You and Us Markers
Put მ- (me), გ- (you) or გვ- (us) at the front of the verb for the person it is done to.
How It Works
English uses separate words for me, you and us. Georgian can put them inside the verb, at the front.
| Marker | Means | Example |
|---|---|---|
| მ- | me | მხედავ? (Do you see me?) |
| გ- | you | გხედავ. (I see you.) |
| გვ- | us | ნინო გვხედავს. (Nino sees us.) |
The end of the verb still shows the doer. მხედავ has no -ს, so the doer is you. In ნინო გვხედავს, -ს shows that Nino is the one who sees.
One rule to remember: when the object is you (გ-), the ვ- for I is not written. So I see you is just გხედავ, with no ვ-. The same goes for waiting: გელოდები (I'm waiting for you).
These are the same markers you know from feeling verbs: მ- in მიყვარს and მშია, გ- in გინდა, გვ- in გვაქვს.
