მჭირდება
I Need
მჭირდება, გჭირდება and სჭირდება mean I need, you need and he or she needs.
How It Works
| Person | Need |
|---|---|
| I | მჭირდება |
| you | გჭირდება |
| he, she | სჭირდება |
| we | გვჭირდება |
| you all, polite you | გჭირდებათ |
| they | სჭირდებათ |
The cases are the opposite of English. The person who needs is in the dative (ნინოს), and the thing needed is in the nominative (ფული).
A shop assistant may ask you რა გჭირდებათ? (What do you need?), with the polite plural.
What you need can also be a verbal noun: დასვენება მჭირდება (I need a rest).
After a number, the noun stays singular as usual: ორი ბილეთი მჭირდება (I need two tickets).
