उहाँ के / इहाँ के
Very Respectful He or She
उहाँ के and इहाँ के are very respectful ways to say he or she, used for elders and guests.
How It Works
These are the most respectful third-person words. You use them for a teacher, a guest, a village elder or a person of high standing.
| Word | Example |
|---|---|
| उहाँ के (that person) | उहाँ के काल्ह अइनी। |
| इहाँ के (this person) | इहाँ के हमार गुरु जी हईं। |
The verb is the same as for रउआ: घरे बानी, अइनी, बतवनी. In writing, you may also meet -लीं, as in उहाँ के कहलीं.
This is one step above बाबूजी आवत बाड़ें, which uses the plural verb. Both are polite; उहाँ के is used when you want to show a high regard.
