Respectful Past: -लें and -ली
How It Works
| Subject | Ending | Example |
|---|---|---|
The respectful ending is the same as the group ending, so गइलें alone could mean he (a respected man) or they. In बाबूजी बजार गइलें, the word बाबूजी makes it clear.
In writing you may see -लन instead of -लें. Write -लें.
Plain casual speech sometimes uses -लस with a woman. The ending to learn is -ली.
