Hindi Mixed Into Bhojpuri Writing
Online and news Bhojpuri often mixes in Hindi words such as भी and लेकिन, and favours the Hindi-shaped progressive रहल बा.
How It Works
Bhojpuri online and in newspapers is often written by people who also write in Hindi. Hindi forms slip in.
| In writing | Everyday twin |
|---|---|
| भी | -ओ, -हूँ |
| लेकिन | बाकिर |
| रहल बा (Bhojpuri, shaped on Hindi) | -त बा |
| से पहले (Hindi spelling) | से पहिले, के पहिले |
These mixed forms are common, so you will meet them. They are not wrong in a news article, but they are not what a speaker says at home.
For speech and lessons, use the Bhojpuri twin. For reading, learn to recognise both.
