आ
Joining with आ
आ means and. It joins words and sentences.
How It Works
आ is the everyday word for and.
| Joins | Example |
|---|---|
| two nouns | चाय आ बिस्कुट |
| two people | माई आ बाबूजी |
| two actions | ऊ खाना खइलस आ सुत गइल। |
Write it as a separate word. It is not the same as the verb आ, which means come, as in आव.
In writing you may also see अउर or अउरी, which means and too, or more. Speech mostly says आ.
To list more than two things, repeat आ or use commas: दाल, भात आ सब्जी.
