A month takes -ত to mean “in”, as in ভাস্কৰৰ জন্মদিন অক্টোবৰত “Bhaskar’s birthday is in October”. You can also add মাহ: জুন মাহত “in June”.

Two ways to say “in a month”: অক্টোবৰত and জুন মাহত. Both are common.

Some spellings vary. You may also see ডিসেম্বৰ, নবেম্বৰ and মে’. They name the same months.

Assam also has its own month names, such as ব’হাগ. They belong to festivals and the farming year.

For a date, the day comes before the month and is written in Assamese digits: ২০ অক্টোবৰত “on 20 October”.

  4. ছেপ্টেম্বৰ মাহত বৰষুণ দিয়ে।

    It rains in September.

    মাহত works for every month name.

  5. আমি জুলাই মাহত সাঁতোৰোঁ।

    In July we swim.

    জুলাই মাহত tells when the action happens.
