Exceptions with ยกเว้น
The examples except a person, Monday or spicy food, state a rain condition, and describe a fee exemption. They do not establish one compulsory word class, a usage-frequency ranking or a formal-only rule.
How It Works
Read each exception in its own statement. ทุกคนมายกเว้นเขา excepts เขา from the reported arrival. The English past tense is selected for that context; bare มา does not by itself require a past-time reading. ร้านเปิดทุกวันยกเว้นวันจันทร์ excepts Monday from the stated schedule. เขากินได้ทุกอย่างยกเว้นของเผ็ด states an eating capacity with spicy food excepted, without establishing why it is excepted.
เราจะไปทะเลกันยกเว้นว่าฝนจะตก is read as a plan to go together unless it rains. The retained ว่า links the displayed rain clause. The example does not prove that the trip occurs, make ว่า compulsory in every exception construction, or establish interchangeable uses or frequency for ยกเว้นแต่ and เว้นแต่. ทางด่วนนี้ยกเว้นค่าธรรมเนียม describes a fee waiver within the example; it does not verify a current toll policy or legal authority.
The first exercise requests the full statement ฉันพูดภาษาอังกฤษนอกจากภาษาไทยแล้วยังพูดภาษาจีนด้วย, adding English and Chinese to Thai. Its นอกจาก...แล้วยัง... pattern has an addition reading here. This task does not make every ยกเว้น use a numerical subtraction.
Missing the requested contrast with แต่.
ฉันอยากไปยกเว้นฉันไม่มีเงินฉันอยากไปแต่ฉันไม่มีเงินUse ฉันอยากไปแต่ฉันไม่มีเงิน for the requested wish contrasted with lack of money, retaining แต่. ฉันอยากไปยกเว้นฉันไม่มีเงิน can receive a different exception reading in another context; it does not supply this requested contrast.
