Question Word + que siá
Whatever and Whoever
A question word followed by que siá means any at all.
How It Works
| Occitan | Meaning |
|---|---|
| ont que siá | wherever, anywhere |
| quora que siá | whenever, at any time |
| qué que siá | whatever, anything |
| qual que siá | whoever, whichever one |
| qui que siá | whoever (a person) |
| cossí que siá | however, in any case |
The phrase can end a sentence (Pòdes venir quora que siá.) or begin it (Ont que siá, trobaràs d'amics.). It stands for something you do not need to name.
You may see siaga or siague in place of siá in some writers, as in ont que siaga. This course uses siá.
Siá is the same subjunctive form you meet after cal que and voler que.
