qual, quala
Which One
Qual and quala ask which one, with no noun.
How It Works
Use qual and quala to ask for a choice between things you can see or have just named. The noun is not repeated.
| Singular | Plural | |
|---|---|---|
| Masculine | qual | quals |
| Feminine | quala | qualas |
The form follows the thing you choose, not the person who answers. If someone shows two chairs, Quala prenes? asks which chair, because cadièra is feminine. When you name the noun in the question, use quin and quina instead: Quina cadièra prenes? The two words overlap in the dictionaries, and this course keeps them apart: quin with a noun, qual without one.
