मला वाटते की
Saying What You Think
The person who thinks takes -ला, and वाटते keeps the same ending for a man and a woman.
How It Works
मला वाटते की gives an opinion or a guess. The thinker takes -ला, so मला वाटते means "to me it seems". After की comes a full sentence with its own verb.
| Who thinks | Form |
|---|---|
| I | मला वाटते की |
| you (तू) | तुला वाटते की |
| he | त्याला वाटते की |
| Sai | सईला वाटते की |
| we | आम्हाला वाटते की |
The ending of वाटते does not change with the thinker, so a man and a woman both say मला वाटते. The sentence after की keeps its own tense: मला वाटते की तो आला. (I think he came.) मला वाटते की तो येईल. (I think he will come.)
To say you do not think so, put नाही after वाटत: मला वाटत नाही की तो आज येईल. (I don't think he will come today.)
Use this pattern for opinions and guesses. For something you know or something someone said, use माहीत आहे की or म्हणाला की.

वाटत नाही makes the opinion negative; की still follows.
Common Mistakes
Using मी for the thinker.
मी वाटते की तो येईल.मला वाटते की तो येईल.The thinker always takes -ला: मला, तुला, त्याला.
Changing वाटते to match the thinker.
मला वाटतो की तो येईल.मला वाटते की तो येईल.वाटते keeps this one ending, whoever thinks.
