मला भीती वाटते

Feeling Afraid, Happy or Unwell

Level 3Sounds Like malā bhītī vāṭatē

The verb matches the feeling word, so आनंद takes वाटतो and भीती takes वाटते.

How It Works

Marathi says "fear seems to me" for "I am afraid": मला भीती वाटते. The person takes -ला, and the feeling is the thing that the verb agrees with. A man and a woman say the same words.

For health, use बरे (well): मला बरे वाटते. (I feel well.) The negative is मला बरे वाटत नाही. (I don't feel well.)

Check the gender of the feeling word every time. आनंद ends the verb in -तो, and भीती ends it in -ते. A man and a woman say मला आनंद वाटतो in the same way, because the verb follows आनंद and says nothing about the speaker.
