दोघे is for people and changes to दोघी for two women, while दोन्ही stays the same.

How It Works

दोघे means the two people. It follows a pronoun or a noun: आम्ही दोघे, ते दोघे, तुम्ही दोघे. For two women the word is दोघी: त्या दोघी.

WordUseExample
दोघेtwo men, or a man and a womanआम्ही दोघे
दोघीtwo womenत्या दोघी
दोन्हीtwo things or two people, before a nounदोन्ही हात

दोन्ही goes before the noun and does not change its form: दोन्ही हात, दोन्ही बहिणी, दोन्ही पुस्तके. The noun is plural.

With an ending, दोघे becomes दोघांना for men or mixed pairs and दोघींना for two women: दोघींना ही गोष्ट आवडली.

The same family continues with तिघे (three people) and चौघे (four people). After a number of people, the word stays masculine for a mixed group: आम्ही तिघे.
