A plural adjective also changes: चांगली मुले, चांगल्या मुली.

How It Works

Many adjectives end in -आ and change like a noun does.

The same shapes appear after the noun: चहा चांगला आहे, शाळा चांगली आहे.

The adjective stands before the noun, as in English: मोठे घर (a big house).

Use the form that matches the noun, not the person you speak to. मोठा (big) changes like चांगला. लहान (small) and नवीन (new) never change.

Words like छान and सुंदर stay the same for every noun: छान घर, छान शाळा.

  • Using the masculine form with a feminine noun.

    ती चांगला शाळा आहे.
    ती चांगली शाळा आहे.

    शाळा is feminine, so the word is चांगली.

  • Using the feminine form with a neuter noun.

    मोठी घर आहे.
    मोठे घर आहे.

    घर is neuter, so the word is मोठे.
