गवा / गई / गए
Went: गवा, गई and गए
The past of go and come changes for the subject.
How It Works
This pattern covers verbs that take no object: जाब and आउब, also पहुँचब and बइठब.
| Who | go | come |
|---|---|---|
| one man or masculine noun | गवा | आवा |
| one woman or feminine noun | गई | आई |
| several, or respect | गए | आए |
Respected people take the plural: चाचा जी लखनऊ गए. With हम, तू and तुम the endings are different: गएन, गइस and गएव.
Verbs with an object do not follow this table. They use -इस and -इन and do not change for gender. Hindi says गया, गई, गए; Awadhi says गवा for the man.
