-इस
Past with -इस: कहिस and देखिस
The past with -इस tells what one person did to something.
How It Works
Take the stem and add -इस. The ending is the same for a man and a woman.
- देख + इस = देखिस (saw)
- पढ़ + इस = पढ़िस (read)
- कह + इस = कहिस (said)
Stems that end in a vowel add the ending straight on: बनाइस (made), सुनाइस (told). Three verbs change their stem: करब gives किहिस, देब gives दिहिस, and लेब gives लिहिस.
Use -इस for one ordinary person and for तू. For several people or someone you respect, use -इन. The subject needs no ने in Awadhi: मुन्नी चीठी पढ़िस.
