এশ গৰু মাৰিলে বাঘৰো মৰণ
Proverb: Even a Tiger Dies
এশ গৰু মাৰিলে বাঘৰো মৰণ means “if a tiger kills a hundred cows, the tiger dies too”.
How It Works
| Words | Meaning |
|---|---|
| এশ গৰু | “a hundred cows” |
| মাৰিলে | “if (he) kills” |
| বাঘৰো | “even the tiger’s” (বাঘ + -ৰ + -ও) |
| মৰণ | “death” |
Here -লে means “if”. The -ও “even” attaches to the end of বাঘৰ and the two endings sit together as বাঘৰো: “even the tiger has its death”.
The saying is easy to picture. A tiger that takes one cow now and then may be left alone, but a tiger that keeps coming back to kill the village’s animals is hunted down by the villagers. So too much harm brings trouble to the one who does it.
