Local Forms Within Languedocien
Languedocien has local forms that differ a little from this course.
How It Works
| This course | Also written |
|---|---|
| del, dels | dal, dau |
| aqueles | aquels |
| totes | tots |
| sabi | sai |
| vòles | vòls |
| èsser | èstre |
| fach, dich | fait, dit |
| parlèsse, foguèsse (first person) | parlèssi, foguèssi |
| calrà (Vèrbòc) | caldrà |
None of the forms on the right is wrong. Some are more common in print than the course form: vòls is more frequent than vòles, and caldrà is more frequent than calrà. The course uses the first form listed in the Vèrbòc and the Congrès dictionaries.
For learners this means two things. You can read every form in this table without trouble. In your own sentences, it is safe to use the form on the left.
