los, las
Definite Articles Plural
Change lo to los and la to las, and add -s to the noun.
How It Works
The plural article follows the same gender rule as the singular.
| Singular | Plural |
|---|---|
| lo libre (the book) | los libres (the books) |
| la taula (the table) | las taulas (the tables) |
| l'ostal (the house) | los ostals (the houses) |
| l'aiga (the water) | las aigas (the waters) |
Los and las keep their full form before a vowel. Write los ostals, never l'ostals.
The final -s of the plural is pronounced.
With a preposition, the plural of al is als, the plural of del is dels, and the plural of pel is pels. Before las nothing merges: a las femnas.
